Showing Up When No One's Watching: The Real Talk About Consistency and Dedication

Have you ever found yourself on the brink of giving up, especially when there’s no one around to hold you accountable? You know that moment when you're sitting there, totally alone, and everything in you is screaming "just skip it"? Let me share a quick story that might hit home for you.

Last month I decided that I was all in on The Total Body Density Training program on Peloton. We're talking a 4 week commitment to build strength –  Monday, Wednesday, Friday, no excuses. I showed up every week to  lift weights and follow the program. (I hear lifting weights is really important in your 40s).

And man, I was crushing it and feeling unstoppable.

But on the final Friday, I was traveling. I thought I was going to get up and complete the final day before packing and heading to the airport but I decided to prioritize sleep. I thought I’ll do it Monday as it was just a quick weekend trip.

Come Monday, I'm back home, tired with a long list of things to get done, and I’m standing in our workout room staring at the Peloton bike and weights. For 10-15 minutes, I stood there thinking of all the reasons why skipping that last session wouldn't matter. No one would know. No one was watching. No one cared.

But then it hit me like a ton of bricks: I would know. I care. I would be letting myself down. And that is what really mattered.

So, I got up and finished that session. It wasn’t about the physical gains at that point, but about the promise I made to myself.

Here's the truth: As creative entrepreneurs and solopreneurs, we spend countless hours building our dreams in silence. We often find ourselves working alone, doing the unglamorous, behind-the-scenes tasks that no one sees. But it’s in these moments, when no one's watching, that our true character and dedication are forged.

Success isn't built on highlight reels. It's built in those private moments when you choose to honor your commitments – to your business, your growth, and most importantly, to yourself.

So the next time you're tempted to skip that important task or take a shortcut, remember: You're not just building a business – you're building your legacy, one unseen choice at a time.

I just snapped a quick photo of me working for you while no one is looking. 🫶🏼
